Denys presents Dreamcutter Technology - NEWS
From 26 to 30 September, ABTUS-BVOTS member Denys and their partner Bauer Maschinen GmbH presented the development of the Dreamcutter technology in Ghent. They welcomed various actors from the world of tunnelling to be introduced to the fully built-up machine. We hope to see this new technology back on construction sites in Belgium and the Netherlands soon.
The increasing population in cities all over the world is putting pressure on the urban landscape. Globally, urbanised regions face the important task of accommodating population growth while at the same time requiring more open space to improve living conditions in inner cities. If cities want to remain cultural, social, and economic centers, they will have to make use of the underground space. There is only one major problem: much of the available space is already taken up by above-ground structures, and the nuisance created by traditional construction methods becomes increasingly difficult to justify. To provide an answer, Denys entered into a strategic partnership with Bauer Maschinen GmbH, and together we developed the Dreamcutter/Cube system, a machine that will change inner-city building forever.
The Dreamcutter uses a slurry wall system based upon the hydrocutter technology of Bauer Maschinen GmbH to create slurry walls out of underground low headroom spaces, such as micro tunnels of 4m diameter, galleries of 3 by 3 meter or any other low headroom space. The machine with a size of 2.9 x 2.4 x 18m (h x w x l) is build out of four high cube containers. Walls of up to 40 m deep and 1 m wide can be created using this system.
On top of this, an extra unit has been developed to facilitate the reinforcing and concreting process.
This technique can be used for various types of projects such as the construction of underground railway stations, parking space, the extension of buildings with subterranean floor levels or underground parking space,…
