General Assembly + Seminar O'weel Right Bank

On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, we welcome our members from 12:00 onward for our General Assembly, followed by an in-depth afternoon seminar on the study and construction works on the Right Bank of the Oosterweel Link in Antwerp.

A must-attend update for everyone involved in tunnels and underground infrastructure!

Anyone crossing Antwerp will have noticed the impressive works on the Right Bank. During this seminar, we provide a comprehensive status update, including:

The Oosterweel Interchange is an ingenious system of ramps, exits, and tunnels located 29 meters below ground level. Due to its unique shape, it is often referred to as the paperclip. It is the critical node where:

the new Scheldt Tunnel surfaces
connections are made with the Kanaal Tunnels toward the Antwerp Ring, the Netherlands, A12 North, E19 North, and toward Ghent, Brussels, and the E313
the overlying structure transitions into Ringpark Noordkasteel, a new green link between the city and the port area

Current Status

The full perimeter of the excavation pit is complete: 3.4 km of diaphragm walls, forming 7 separate pits
A major portion of the excavation work has already been carried out

2026: Reaching Maximum Depth

This year, the construction teams will reach the maximum depth of 29 meters
Most remaining soil will be removed
Structural works are progressing: after the first permanent concrete slab was poured at the end of 2025, the visible build-up phase continues throughout 2026, bringing the future interchange steadily to life

We complement the technical sessions with an exclusive site visit, starting directly from the Oosterweelcampus.
